Relief Grant for Artistes and Creatives

Port-of-Spain: The Ministry of Community Development, Culture and the Arts is pleased to advise that Cabinet has approved a one-off payment of Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000) in financial assistance for artistes and creatives who lost  income as a result of the global pandemic COVID -19. The grant is aimed at providing a measure of relief to artistes and creatives who have been affected by cancelled exhibitions, classes, conferences, workshops and other cultural events between March and December, 2020.                                                                                          

To be eligible for the grant, applicants should be:

  • Individuals involved in the Cultural Sector
  • Citizens of Trinidad and Tobago
  • Eighteen (18) years and over
  • Artistes in the areas of: Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Literary Arts, Fine Arts, Craft
  • Persons who have not received any other COVID-19 related Salary Relief Government grant in Trinidad and Tobago.

To further assist our artistes and creatives, the rental cost of the national performance spaces under the remit of the Ministry of Community Development, Culture and the Arts will be reduced by fifty percent (50%) until December 2020. These include the National Academy for the Performing Arts, Southern Academy for the Performing Arts, Queen’s Hall and Naparima Bowl.

Cultural Relief Grant Application forms will be available nationwide from next week- further information will be made available to the public on where these can be accessed. The list of supporting documentation required for application will be posted on the Ministry’s website and FB page.
